GivingTuesday

December 3

You Can Help Us Make a Difference

At Second City Canine Rescue, 1/3 of our annual expenses are spent on medical and dental care for our dogs. This Giving Tuesday we are shining a spotlight on just a few of our dogs who need extraordinary care to get a chance at a better future.

A local family generously offered to match donations up to $10,000! Help us raise a total of $20,000 toward our dogs’ medical bills. We would love your help setting these amazing dogs up for success!

Argo

Argo is a tiny chihuahua mix found as a stray in Chicago. He has dental disease, a heart murmur and a tumor. So far we have paid $1,700 for Argo to have a senior health panel and an echocardiogram of his heart, a dental cleaning with extractions, be neutered and for tumor removal and biopsy. Argo is doing fantastic in his foster home with lots of soft places to cuddle and two foster siblings to play with. He has already stolen many hearts at SCCR and a family looking for an easy dog is going to love this little guy once he is ready for adoption!

Lenny

Lenny is a Pomeranian mix transferred to us from a Kentucky rescue partner in late October. Lenny had a perineal hernia which can be life-threatening. We paid $3,200 for Lenny to have this hernia repaired by our excellent vets. Lenny is having a great time in his foster home playing with his foster brothers and soaking up attention from his foster mom.

Gingersnap

Gingersnap is a retriever mix who had 10 puppies at the end of October. Gingersnap and her pups are doing well and are living at our adoption center being cared for by our wonderful adoption center staff and volunteers. Gingersnap’s puppies will be with us for about 5 more weeks. We will provide food, supplies, puppy vaccines, and spay/neuter surgeries for and her 10 puppies before they are adopted at an estimated cost of $5,500.

Adalynn Joy

Adalynn Joy, a poodle mix, had her surprise litter of 11 puppies in mid-November and is not doing as well. Adalynn Joy and all 11 pups were rushed to the ER vet on November 14th. Everyone is okay now but we moved five pups to another foster home so the six pups still with Adalynn Joy can get more to eat. Adalynn Joy and her 11 puppies will receive food, supplies, vaccines, and spay/neuter over the next 7-9 weeks and we expect everyone to be happy and healthy despite their precarious start. With this additional ER visit, we will spend about $6,500 on Adalynn Joy and her pups.

Every Donation Matters!

Argo, Lenny, Gingersnap, Adalynn Joy, and their surprise puppies are just some examples of the individual needs and expenses of each dog we currently have in our care. Will you join us in helping these amazing dogs by donating for Giving Tuesday?
