Coal is a 4-year-old Pit Bull with the energy of burning charcoal, always fired up for play and adventure. Whether he's chasing a Frisbee or darting after squirrels, Coal is in his element outdoors, loving every moment in the sun. He doesn’t always return the ball or Frisbee, but he’s a natural at catching them mid-air. At home, though, Coal mellows out and becomes the perfect snuggle buddy, happy to relax after a day of activity.

This eager-to-please boy knows an impressive array of commands, including sit, down, heel, and even tricks like paw and speak, especially when there's peanut butter involved. House-trained and great on a leash (with just a little excitement when spotting other dogs), Coal is fantastic in the car, content with his dog seatbelt in the back.

However, loud noises like fireworks make Coal anxious, and vet visits require sedation due to his sensitivity. He will need anxiety medication for life to help with overstimulation. While Coal gets along well with other dogs and older kids, his high energy and excitement make him better suited for homes without young children. His relationship with cats remains a mystery.

Coal's love for play, makes him a fun and lively companion who will light up any active household with his enthusiasm and loyalty.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
