Labrador RetrieverView Houston on Petfinder
Adorkable. Goober. Doofus. Yeah, that’s Houston. The personality of a Black Lab mixed with something smaller, maybe Dachshund, makes Houston the perfect playful lap dog. 25-pound Houston comes from Alabama, pulled off the street after time as a stray with his running buddy, Whitney. (Get it? Whitney. Houston.) This little guy is estimated to be around a year old, and is happy, funny, and friendly. The list of things Houston loves is long, long, long: other dogs, being outside (in any kind of weather, nothing phases him), walks, tug-of-war, bones… He adores toys and is a master of entertaining himself by tossing a ball up and patting it around. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and exhibits no guarding tendencies. Houston is still young and will need continued training on house-breaking and crating, but he learns well. His foster mom says, “Houston will bring his family so much laughter and joy! He would do great with another dog or an active family that likes to spend time outside. He loves having the fenced in yard, but also does well on leash. He takes correction well from our dogs and has no issues showing his belly to them if he knows he may have been too much. We will definitely miss having that forehead-slapping-head-shaking kind of laughter.” Come meet this goofball on Saturday. We’re betting he’ll bring a smile to your face. Please check our events page at http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org to find where this dog may be shown this weekend. If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must send an application or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to a Saturday Adoption Event so we know you plan on attending. If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along. 🙂 The breed or breed mix listed for each dog is simply a guess. The profile software program requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog’s individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near Chicagoland... we are sorry but we cannot accept any out of state applications. We look forward to speaking with you!
