This boy is a survivor. Found by Chicago Police as a stray, Collin was brought into animal control with a large, very obvious tumor on his neck. Our wonderful veterinary associates performed surgery, and soon he was on his way to a foster home, sporting 40 stitches in his neck.

None of this has dampened Collin’s spirits in the slightest. Collin, a 7-year-old Beagle/Boxer mix, is, in the words of his foster mom, “Perfect! A joy for a pet!” The margins of his cancerous tumor were clean and recent X-rays show no further sign of the disease. That means this handsome fellow is now ready for the next — happy! — chapter of his life.

Housebroken, crate-trained, and good with other dogs, Collin is a perfect houseguest. His foster mom says he is active when you are and a couch potato when you’re ready to relax. He loves his people and just wants to be near them. This boy is the very definition of eager to please. He’s good on leash and great in the car.

Ohhh…this boy. His eyes are soft as pudding, his smile goes on for days, and his heart is as big as the sky. Who can help him write that next, happy chapter?

Please check our events page at http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org to find where this dog may be shown this weekend. If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must send an application or email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org prior to a Saturday Adoption Event so we know you plan on attending. If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along. 🙂

The breed or breed mix listed for each dog is simply a guess. The profile software program requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog’s individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near Chicagoland... we are sorry but we cannot accept any out of state applications. We look forward to speaking with you!
